ENTERING THE WORKPLACE

Students in Thurstable Sixth Form are given access to high quality opportunities to learn from extracurricular activities as part of the enrichment programme, such as:

● Yearly Whole School Careers Evening with 50+ exhibitors

● Volunteering

● Work experience

● Employability skills

● CV workshops

● University preparation

● Interview techniques

● Employer Mock interviews

● Running clubs and societies

● Organising Charity events

● Sixth Form Leadership Team roles and responsibilities

● Participating in team sports

● Mentoring younger year students

In addition to these opportunities, students are given full support and encouragement to engage in alternative opportunities which they might want to participate in.

Proactive employer engagement is extremely important in the Sixth Form which is strengthened by strong links with local employers, understanding local labour market information and providing information on job opportunities and apprenticeships to the students.

Local employers, voluntary organisations and agencies are always welcome and encouraged to contact the Careers Leaders, Mrs Swan, to be able to provide opportunities to access students and promote their services and employment which in turn strengthens the relationship between the Sixth Form and the local community.
