TEACHING & LEARNING

Overview

We are a research-led, evidence-informed school. Our learning & teaching and continuous professional learning approaches are shaped with the single priority of having maximum impact on student learning. Evidence-informed for us means engaging with current research to discover what is most likely to work in our context. The research we draw upon is both robust and classroom-based: “Teach Like a Champion 2.0” by Doug Lemov documents 62 techniques used by highly effective teachers across the USA with a relentless focus on student learning. Other key publications are the principles of Barak Rosenshine, elaborated upon by Tom Sherrington in “Rosenshine’s Principles in Action” and Tom Sherrington’s “Walkthrus”. These texts, and several others, complement each other and provide us with a powerful evidence base from which to grow.
