Summer School 2021
From Monday 9th to Friday 13th August 2021, we opened our doors to 184 Year 6 pupils all excited to explore their future here at Thurstable School. Throughout the week they studied a broad curriculum led by some of our most inspirational teachers, supported by their new Year 7 pastoral team and on Friday 13th had the opportunity to experience Mersea’s Outdoor Centre for a day of fun-packed activities. The activities included high ropes, adventure courses, wall climbing and archery. A free packed lunch was offered to all pupils throughout the week and pictures with details of our activities both within school and at Mersea’s Outdoor Centre were posted on Twitter for parents to follow. All of our lessons had the thread ‘Be kind, work hard and leave a legacy’ at the core and our literacy and drama lessons used Matthew Syed’s book ‘You are awesome’ throughout which is definitely worth a read! All pupils were provided with their own, free, personal copy as well as a free set of equipment to take them through the week and in to the new academic year.
