British Values
PSHE lessons at Thurstable aim to explore British values and prepare students for life in modern day Britain. In addition there are many aspects of school life that teach students the fundamental British values so that
Students develop an understanding of democracy and the rule of law, with particular focus on respect for the law and appreciating that law protects individual citizens and is essential for wellbeing and safety e.g. through the Student Smart Council and the mock General Election of 2024
Students are encouraged to be respectful, having tolerance for other people and different cultural traditions. Students understand the importance of identifying and combating prejudice and discrimination.
Through the Tutor Group Character Curriculum (TGCC) students are taught to accept responsibility for their behaviour and understand how they can contribute positively towards other people.
